Tri-Valley Life Sciences Summit 2025: Innovation, Investment, Health Care, and Community at the Forefront
Pleasanton, CA — September 25, 2025 — The Tri-Valley Life Sciences Summit returns to Rosewood Commons Conference Center on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, bringing together life sciences entrepreneurs, investors, scientists, and business leaders to celebrate and accelerate innovation in the region. Presented by Kaiser Permanente, California Life Sciences, and Kilpatrick, the summit will feature a fireside chat with keynote speaker Pam Galley, Executive Vice President at Kaiser Permanente, and a panel discussion with founders and early employees from QuantaLife and other pioneering Tri-Valley startups.
A Region in the Spotlight
Mayor Jack Balch of Pleasanton is proud to host the summit in Pleasanton for the fifth time, noting: “Pleasanton is a hub for life sciences and health care, bringing leaders together to spark new ideas and partnerships. This summit highlights our role in the Tri-Valley’s innovation economy and reinforces our commitment to building a healthier, more innovative future.”
As a healthcare organization deeply committed to innovation and community health, Kaiser Permanente is proud to support the Tri-Valley Life Sciences Summit,” said Pam Galley, EVP, Kaiser Permanente. “This event is a unique opportunity to connect with the scientists and entrepreneurs who are shaping the future of health care in our region.”
“CLS is at the forefront of advancing collaboration, growth, and success within the life sciences ecosystem,” said CLS CEO Mike Guerra. “CLS is proud to sponsor this Tri-Valley event in partnership with the state of California to make strategic investments that further our unmatched track record of producing breakthrough cures for patients around the world.”
“Since we started supporting this Summit several years ago, its reach has grown from the East Bay to the greater Bay Area. It is a centerpiece of our work with Life Sciences Companies and support for the startup community,” adds Dr. Siegmar Pohl, Walnut Creek and San Francisco, Co-Chair of Kilpatrick’s Emerging Companies and VC practice.
Panel Discussion: How One Startup Became a Catalyst for Ecosystem Growth
A highlight of this year’s summit is the panel of entrepreneurs from the wide variety of founders and companies that have sprung from one critical startup acquisition by Bio-Rad, QuantaLife. Their discussion will highlight how our Tri-Valley life sciences tools startup ecosystem emerged and is evolving. Hear from QuantaLife co-founders Don Masquelier (now Principal at Altamont Bio) and Ben Hindson, (now Co-Founder and CSO, 10x Genomics), and early stage QuantaLife employees and local founders Klint Rose (founder and formerly CEO of Purigen), and Austin So (Founder and CEO, Clarica Genomics, a Daybreak Labs incubator member in Livermore).
Statewide Investment and Policy
This year’s summit will feature a special address by Derek Kirk, Senior Advisor for Economic Policy at the California Governor’s Office of Business and Economic Development, who will also moderate the panel discussion. Kirk will share insights on California’s recent commitment to the life sciences sector, including the newly announced $23.92 million investment to catalyze biotech innovation and job creation.
Kirk strongly supports the opportunity to inform and support the Tri-Valley’s life sciences companies about recent state support, saying, “California’s life sciences sector is not only a driver of innovation—it’s a cornerstone of economic growth. Our recent investments reflect a commitment to building resilient regional ecosystems, and the Tri-Valley is a prime example of how the state can collaborate with local partners to accelerate both discovery and opportunity in this critically important sector.”
