FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Daybreak Labs Welcomes ZeroAvia to Incubator Space

Tri-Valley Incubator Supports ZeroAvia as Company Opens Hydrogen Infrastructure Product Development Site

LIVERMORE, CA – February 1, 2024 – Daybreak Labs, the Tri-Valley’s first and only hard tech incubator for life sciences and energy startups, is pleased to support the drive for clean aviation as it welcomes new member company, ZeroAvia, to their space in Livermore. Daybreak Labs, run by i-GATE Innovation Hub, which is funded by the Cities of Livermore, Pleasanton, Dublin, the Town of Danville, Alameda County Board of Supervisors, Lawrence Livermore and Sandia National Labs, helps science-based startups succeed by offering early-stage companies access to dedicated benches and desks in shared lab and office space.

On January 22, ZeroAvia announced it will begin work this year to design, build, and demonstrate a 10,000-liter mobile LH2 refueler with sufficient flow rates to refuel in a similar time as traditional jet fuel refills at the Livermore Airport.  Daybreak Labs is a critical part of this effort, with their incubator space being the ideal location for engineers involved in the design of their LH2 refueler.  The ZeroAvia team is using resources at Daybreak Labs to create designs and models. No liquid hydrogen will be used at Daybreak Labs.

Parker Bryant, Head of Product at ZeroAvia, noted “The support we have received from the City of Livermore, the Tri-Valley, and Daybreak Labs is a critical part of our ability to set up our operations here. The ease of working with Daybreak Labs to locate our engineers to get started quickly has been essential to our ability to move our business forward.”

City of Livermore Mayor John Marchand remarked, “Daybreak Labs is a critical asset for economic development in the region. They work seamlessly with community partners, like the City of Livermore and Five Rivers Aviation, to create a vibrant economy, one startup at a time.”

Says i-GATE Innovation Hub and Daybreak Labs executive director, Yolanda Fintschenko, PhD, “This use case is exactly why Daybreak Labs exists. Energy hard tech startups must be agile and need multiple resources, particularly to get to a first of a kind demonstration.  Our ability to support ZeroAvia in conjunction with the City of Livermore and Five Rivers Aviation is a direct reflection of how we have designed our program to partner with key stakeholders to support energy startups.”
